Tom’s Weight LossRankings

Medical & general disclaimer

This site publishes consumer product reviews and general information about the weight loss market. It is not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. Please read this page before acting on anything you find here.

1. This is not medical advice

All content on tomsweightlossrankings.com — including reviews, rankings, scores, guides, comparisons and any other material — is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not medical advice, not a diagnosis, not a treatment recommendation, and not a substitute for consultation with a qualified healthcare professional.

Nothing published here is intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or health condition.

2. We are not medical professionals

Tom's Weight Loss Rankings is written and operated by consumer product reviewers. We are not physicians, dietitians, registered nutritionists, pharmacists, nurses, psychologists or clinicians of any kind, and we hold no medical licence or qualification. Where we summarise published research, we do so as informed lay readers, not as clinical experts.

Reading this site, contacting us, or corresponding with us does not create a doctor–patient relationship or any other professional care relationship of any kind.

3. Always consult a healthcare professional first

Speak with a qualified healthcare professional who knows your medical history before you start, stop or change any weight loss medication, dietary supplement, restrictive diet, fasting protocol or exercise programme. This is particularly important if you:

  • Take any prescription medication
  • Have any chronic or ongoing condition, including diabetes, thyroid disease, cardiovascular disease, kidney or liver disease, or a gastrointestinal disorder
  • Are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding
  • Are under 18 years of age
  • Have any history of an eating disorder or a difficult relationship with food, dieting or body image
  • Have a history of bariatric surgery

Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you have read on this site. If you think you may be experiencing a medical emergency, call your local emergency number or go to the nearest emergency department immediately.

4. Individual results vary — nothing here is a promise

Weight loss outcomes differ enormously between individuals depending on starting weight, body composition, medical history, medication, genetics, adherence, sleep, stress and many other factors that no product can control for.

Any outcome described on this site — whether from our own testing, from published research, or from any other source — is not typical, is not a guarantee, and should not be taken as a prediction of what you will experience. Where we cite averages from clinical studies, those averages come from specific study populations under specific conditions, usually including supervision and support that you may not receive.

We do not publish before-and-after photographs, and we do not make promises about specific amounts of weight loss in specific timeframes. If you encounter a product that does, we would encourage you to read our guide on red flags in weight loss marketing.

5. Dietary supplements are not FDA-approved

In the United States, dietary supplements are not reviewed or approved by the Food and Drug Administration before they are sold. Manufacturers are responsible for the safety and labelling of their own products, and regulatory action generally follows rather than precedes a problem.

Statements about supplements on this site have not been evaluated by the FDA. Supplements can carry real risks, including interactions with prescription medication, and the presence of a product on the market is not evidence that it is safe or effective. A pharmacist will check a supplement against your prescriptions free of charge, and it is worth asking.

6. Prescription medications

Where we discuss prescription medications, including GLP-1 receptor agonists, we are describing the market and the services that dispense them. We are not recommending that you take any prescription medication, and we cannot tell you whether one is appropriate for you.

These are serious medications with real contraindications, side effects and monitoring requirements. That decision belongs to you and a prescribing clinician who has reviewed your full medical history. Our descriptions of side effects and risks are summaries and are never complete — read the official labelling and talk to a clinician or pharmacist.

7. Eating disorders

Some products reviewed on this site could be harmful to a person with an eating disorder or a history of disordered eating, and we flag this in individual reviews where we consider it relevant.

If your relationship with food, exercise or your body is causing you distress, please talk to a doctor or a qualified professional. Eating disorder helplines and support services operate in most countries and can be reached without a referral. A product review site is not a substitute for that support, and we would rather say so than sell you something.

8. Accuracy and currency of information

We take considerable care with accuracy, but this is a fast-moving market. Prices change, formulations are reformulated, ingredients are substituted, subscription terms are rewritten and companies change practices — sometimes without notice.

Information on this site reflects what we found at the time of testing or last review, and each page carries a date. Always check the current label, price and terms with the seller before purchasing. We make no warranty that any content is complete, current or error-free.

If you spot an error, please write to corrections@tomsweightlossrankings.com — our corrections policy is described on how we review.

9. Opinions and scores

Scores, rankings and verdicts published on this site represent our honest editorial opinion, formed by applying a published rubric to products we purchased ourselves. They are subjective assessments rather than statements of objective fact, and reasonable people may reach different conclusions from the same evidence.

10. Third-party sites and products

This site links to third-party websites and sellers. We do not control those sites, do not endorse everything on them, and are not responsible for their content, their products, their accuracy, their privacy practices or your dealings with them. Any transaction you enter into with a third party is solely between you and that third party.

11. Affiliate relationships

We earn affiliate commissions from some of the products linked on this site. This is disclosed on every page and on every individual link, and described in full in our affiliate disclosure.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Tom's Weight Loss Rankings and its contributors accept no liability for any loss, injury, illness or damage of any kind arising from your use of this site or your reliance on any information published here, or from any product or service you obtain from a third party after reading about it here.

You use this site, and act on its content, entirely at your own risk. See our terms of service for the full statement. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
